David Watts: Late 2015 Collection Picks

For a brand that is fairly new on the scene, David Watts has gained a good reputation in a short space of time. Taking inspiration from the Ivy League, France, Italy and of course England David Watts apply all the Modernist areas to their collections. In March 2014 we got a look at David Watts' trademark silk infused knitwear and we are still digging those pieces to this day! So with the new collection being unveiled this summer we have been lucky enough again to get our hands on some of the clobber. Here's five superb pieces from them.

'Gosseto' French Navy Cycle Jersey:

Mods were the first Sub-Culture to break down the divide between Sportswear and Streetwear so it's no surprise that the slim silhouette of a cycling top was one they wanted to adopt. Fast forward to 2015 and David Watts have given the Mod classic cycling top a whole new lease of life with their 'Gosseto' model. This one comes in a classic navy blue colourway with gold trim. Featuring the classic zip and collar and cuff tipping this modern day interpretation of the classic is simple yet very effective. There's no overt branding like you find on the 'vintage' cycling tops available at the likes of Portebello Market. 'David Watts' is sown into the bottom right vent in gold which is a subtle touch. Worn with jeans or strides 'Gosseto' is a very versatile item for your Modernist wardrobe. Made from mercerised cotton too it will keep you cool and is very light and comfortable. I'm a big fan of the Bradley Wiggins X Fred Perry collections and David Watts have definitely given them some competition with this piece. A great top, one to wear for all occasions too. Good work!

Webster French Navy Polo Shirt:

The Polo Shirt is another item that the original Modenists adopted and made their own. Fred Perry has always been regarded as one of the front running brands in this department however new kids on the block David Watts will give any brand a run for their money. The 'Webster' is in a classic navy colourway and features white and sky blue tipping to the collar and cuffs. With a three button placket and being made of mercerised cotton 'Webster' has the subtle detailing that all Mods love. I particularly like the David Watts shield logo and the pocket which sits nicely on the left breast of the shirt. Once again David Watts have conquered a sublime smart, casual piece which will look good on many!

Polka Dog Scarf:

Great item this! Dogtooth and Polkadot are two classic contemporary patterns that all Mods will have worn at some stage. Well David Watts have now made it easy to wear both patterns at the same time! The 'Polka Dog' scarf is a double sided dress scarf that incorporates both patterns into its design, Polka Dot on one side and Dogtooth on the other. This scarf looks class tied like a tie and worn under a jacket very classic and mid 60's Mod. It features a woven David Watts label on both sides too like the classic trademarks of a Tootal or a Sammy. This scarf is a lovely accessory to any mans wardrobe and will look the part at a gig or even if you're meeting the lads for a few down the local. Nice one DW!

Buffs Woven Leather Belt:

Made from premium grain hide leather the 'Buffs' Woven Leather Belt is a real quality piece. Taking inspiration from both the Ivy League and the 60's British Mod look for this one, the belt incorporates those classic colour lines which the likes of Steve Marriott and Pete Townsend wore back in the day. I've always loved the design of these belts and how they break up your look adding more colour and shapes to it. White, Burgundy and Navy Blue are the colours featured here and they look great together. The Stainless steel buckle with the debossed signature logo on gives the belt a sense of identity and class. It's single handily the best belt I have ever owned and I've owned a lot of belts! Great piece and even better price tag!

Brown Leather Watts Wallet:

Great little pocket piece this! The Brown Leather wallet from David Watts has everything you need from something which is given the task to carry around your precious pennies! Made from 100% Leather and featuring a subtle David Watts logo on the front this wallet is a top quality item. It's bursting with colour on the inside and can hold up to 8 cards and has two sections for notes. The Purple Satin lining gives it a touch of class and reminds you of the quality and care that goes into every item that DW produce. I've been using the wallet none stop for a month now and it's still going strong with hardly any wear being shown. Class item and bound to keep your cash safe and ready to be spent on more David Watts gear!
