New Music for 2016

We are lucky enough to receive loads of new music though the doors of Move On Up HQ every week and this year is looking promising for music, believe me! Last year brought us the likes of The Tapestry, The Spitfires and Blossoms and 2016 is yet again looking like another great year for British music.

Jack Perrett

Jack sent us the first track from his latest  E.P titled 'What you Saying?' the E.P. also follows the same name. What we discovered was a proper gem of a tune, close your eyes and think back to 1994 and the days of jangily Indie guitar music. The LA's and Oasis would be proud to call this track their own. Jacks vocal is perfectly suited to the style of the song and it screams attitude. His guitar playing is effortless and I can see this lad having a real bright future. I've played this song a fair few times and it gets batter with every listen! Looking forward to hearing more of this lad! Well played man!

The Repeat Offenders

This Northampton indie outfit have been making waves in the last few months. With a solid sound and look these boys could be hitting it big in 2016. They've got catchy tunes and definitely mean business what's not to like? It's bands like this lot that give you hope for British music unlike the dross you see on the Brits year in year out! "She's a Mystery" is a personal favourite of mine check that out of you haven't already! Good Indie music has been hard to come by in recent years and The Repeat Offenders are supplying the people with good taste with some songs to hear! Taking inspiration from all the greats and the Indie boom of 2004, Repeat Offenders are definitely making strides towards some very big gigs! They'd be ideal supporting the likes of The Enemy or even Milburn on their latest run of comeback gigs. The Repeat Offenders definitely have bottle and that goes miles in this industry they just need some influential figures to get their noses up from their SUN newspaper and invest in some proper music.

Social Room

I first bumped into lead singer Matt when I was out with The Spitfires in Newcastle last year. We had a brief chat and I could tell he was a frontman with attitude. Social Room hail from Sunderland so they're not too far from me and they are churning out some great stuff at the moment. Social Room bring 90's dance beats and marry it with Indie guitar music and it makes for a very nice sound! With the attitude of Oasis and the working-class north eastern charm of a bunch of lads from Sunderland Social Room have the right recipe for success. Their songs are punchy and say something to the listener. They remind me of an early Kasabian, full of attitude and optimism their tunes are ace and they know it! We need more bands like this! The north east had been particularly sparse for good music the only famous thing to come from the area is that team who play in red and white. UTB! "Let Me See You Work It" is probably my favourite tune of theirs and it's definitely one to get you going. I'm looking forward to seeing the lads at Stockton Calling this year, 2016 could be huge for them!

Idle Talk

We did a feature on Brighton based Mod band Idle Talk back in 2015 and since then they've had some significant movements. They have supported both From the Jam and Secret Affair along with signing to Detour Records. Great progression from the lads and its great to see that what we do on Move On Up gives unsigned music that extra notice that it deserves. The lads have recently recorded an E.P. called 'Reaction' which has been mixed by Moons frontman and Weller band member Andy Crofts. Not bad ey! There's some great tracks here and for a debut E.P. its sounding fantastic! Idle Talk have a great sound and use the Modernist aesthetic to their advantage. 'A Different Beat' is a great tune and takes Folk, Indie and Motown and blends them together to create a really forward thinking track. Ace! Idle Talk, like The Spifires are putting the movement on the map and are carving a path for well crafted songs with attitude and style! Viva la revolution!

You can find the band's tunes on Youtube, Soundcloud and all good media outlets, get listening!
