I met up with front man Georgie Brown of growing Middlesbrough band 'The Red Bricks' for a quick catch up on all things music, clothes and style.
DP: Who inspired you to pick up the guitar?GB: Well I'd say for a lot of people they would go for obvious choices like Gallagher and Weller but for me it was my Dad, he always played all the time as a hobby and still does but he gave me the confidence to learn, and do something that I enjoy and from then on everything just flowed.
DP: Who is your idol in music?
GB: In terms of my musical idol, it has to be Liam Gallagher, just his attitude and the way he presents himself on stage is brilliant, in my opinion the best front man of the last twenty years.
DP: What tunes are you listening to at the moment?
GB: At the moment I'm listening to a lot of Britpop stuff, underrated bands like Cast and Supergrass but more recently I'm listening to a band called The Clock Tower from Wolverhampton who are fantastic!
DP: What sort of sound are you and The Red Bricks looking at producing?
GB: We recorded three tracks down at Green Dragon Studios recently, 'We can't all be Free', 'No one Else' and 'I don't want to be left alone'. They've all gone down really well which we are all pleased about, but I'd say in the long run keep on producing catchy and edgy tunes!
DP: What is it like being in an up and coming Teesside band?
GB: Hmm I'd say it's exciting as you never know what's going to happen, or where you're going or when your next gig is but yeah overall we really love it.
DP: Where do you find your inspiration to write songs?
GB: Most of our songs are either observational or a rant about something that has happened to someone etc, being the songwriter you have no idea when an idea is going to come but when it does its great.
DP: Are you and the lads enjoying starting out and getting your music out there?
GB: Yeah we are loving it! I think it's brilliant the comments we've had from people who have heard us saying, "We love what you're doing, we think it's great!" When you hear that it reminds you of why you're out there doing it.
DP: Do you feel image is important when in a band?
GB: Yes because at first glance you need to make an impression to people and no on will want to listen to you if you, dress like a twat haha!
DP: Who do you look at for clothing inspiration?
GB: For me it's a mix of the Gallagher's as it's got a mix of everything, if you're thinking of Sub-Cultures and being a football fan myself I do like the casual scene although there can be some shocking clobber from time to time haha!
DP: And finally what can we expect to hear/see from The Red Bricks in 2014?
GB: We'll be looking to go back into the studio to get some more tracks recorded and obviously gigging around Boro and Teesside and getting our music out to as many people as possible and hopefully they'll enjoy it!
DP: Cheers for that Georgie, I'm sure we'll see and hear a lot more from you and the lads in 2014!
GB: It's been a pleasure mate!
Check The Red Bricks out over on their Facebook page, trust me it's worth doing!
