Disguises: Issue 2

It's a pleasure to be reviewing the second issue of 'Disguises' having been lucky enough to be featured in issue 1, I know all the hard work Gaz puts into this great little fanzine! issue 2 is as equally great as issue 1 packed with interviews, stories and general Jam fanatic stuff! Disguises reminds me of the so often talked about fanzines of the 1980's Mod Revival, passing on what's cool and happening with every new issue printed. At the heart of Disguises is every contributors love of the best fucking band in the world! The Jam!

One of my favourite parts of the mag was instantly the interview with celebrity hairdresser and all round Modernist, Micheal Douglas. He's well know for his 'Street Barber' sections on BBC's 'The One Show' and he's always caught the eye of many mods due to his slick dress sense and good haircut. He talks with Gaz about music, clothes and his band he set up with the dads at his kids school 'Groovedaddy'! I was lucky enough to meet Michael at the launch night of The Jam 'About the Young Idea' exhibition at Somerset House and he was a true gent! He digged my hair too! An interview with Chris Watson from The Moons is in there too, he gives his opinion on music, clothes and what it's like being a member of The Moons. The interviews you get with Disguises are from honest, cool Jam fans who really love the band and that comes across in every interview.

Disguises is every inch a 'Modzine' as it is a tribute to The Jam. Full of great little stories and snippets of knowledge from the scene. One of the main things which attracts me to Disguises is the number of different contributors all from different walks of life and of varying ages. The one thing which immediately comes across when reading Disguises is the relevance The Jam still have today, a band so powerful they are still adored decades on! The range of content the zine offers too is great, most fanzines just chuck interviews in or news whereas Disguises has it all! A superb fanzine with a big future, I hope to be involved again in the future. Nice one Gaz, long live The Jam!
